I've never heard of a public forum or message board as a WELL. According to Turner the WELL allowed us to "recapture the sense of cooperative spirit that so many people seemed to lose when we gained all this technology." It is true that when all the new technology bombarded us, people stopped talking to each other because we had the internet in front of our faces. Now that we've adapted to the technologies like Facebook and Twitter, we can now use other forms of communication like message board and forums.
Like I said before when I commented on John's wall, my mom joined a message board that gives her new ideas for how she can be creative around the house, and especially how to do handy work like my mom loves to do. More and more people are meeting each other online through public forums. To be honest I've never used one before because I didn't know if I should trust them or not, but I guess it just depends on the forum. I definitely want to check one out and see what I can find.
