Social media means new ways to communicate and share things with people who care. I really liked the ice cream creation example. It was really interesting to see how information just spreads and ideas are created from person to person. Social media is perfect for this class because we only meet two days out of the week, and those other five days we have to find a way to get our information to each other. The Wiki that John created is perfect because everyone in group two can add information to the Wiki; granted everyone joins it.
The second video said at one point that "Networks get things done." I wasn't really sure what was meant by this but then they went on to say that people networks help us find jobs, meet friends, and find partners. Wiki is a network. Blogging is a network. SJFC's blackboard is a network. It's true. Networks help us find people and information a lot faster than looking in a phone book for their address and phone number.
